When you think about branding, your mind might go straight to colors, logos, or imagery. But there’s one powerful element that often gets overlooked: fonts.
Fonts are more than just letters on a page, they set the tone for your brand. The typography you choose instantly communicates a feeling, whether that’s modern and minimal, elegant and timeless, or playful and bold.
So if you’ve ever wondered why picking the right font feels so hard, it’s because fonts aren’t neutral. They carry vibes. And the vibe is what connects emotionally with your audience.
Let’s break down the main font types and what they say about your brand.
Vibe: Simple, approachable, and professional.
Sans serif fonts don’t have the small “feet” or strokes at the ends of letters, which gives them a clean, no-fuss look. They’re perfect if your brand values clarity, modernity, and approachability.
Brands that use Sans Serif: Google, Spotify, Netflix, Microsoft and Airbnb.

Vibe: Elegant, traditional, and credible.
Serif fonts are recognizable by the little “feet” or decorative strokes at the end of each letter. They’ve been around for centuries, which makes them feel timeless and reliable.
Brands that use Serif: The New York Times, Vogue, Tiffany & Co., Time Magazine and Rolex.

Vibe: Artistic, human, and expressive.
Script fonts often mimic handwriting, which adds a personal touch. They can be elegant and formal, or playful and casual, depending on the style.
Brands that use Script: Coca-Cola, Instagram (older logo), Ford, Cadillac and Johnson & Johnson.

Vibe: Unique, dramatic, and full of personality.
Display fonts are designed to stand out. They’re less about readability in long paragraphs and more about making a statement. Think of them as the “spotlight” font you use for logos or big headlines.
Brands that use Display Fonts: Disney, Lego, Fanta, Metallica, and Pinterest.

Fonts are a silent communicator. They tell your audience how to feel about your business before they even read a word. Choosing the right one means aligning the vibe of the font with your brand’s values, personality, and audience expectations.
Start with the vibe, not the font.
Ask yourself: do I want my brand to feel timeless, approachable, artistic, or bold? From there, the font choice becomes much easier.
