Have you ever wondered what your website says about your business? Beyond being a digital storefront, it’s often the first impression people have of your brand. Is it telling the right story? Does it reflect who you truly are and what you stand for?
As a brand and website designer, I believe your website should do more than just look good, it should feel like you, connect with your audience, and inspire action. In this blog, I will share my process, lessons learned, and the essential steps to help you create a website that truly converts.
A successful website doesn’t come out of nowhere, it always stems from strong branding. And when I say branding, I don’t just mean colors and fonts; I’m talking about capturing your mission, values, and the essence of your business.
My process always begins with getting to know my clients deeply: what drives them, what they stand for, and how they want their audience to perceive them. This step is crucial because your website isn’t just for you, it’s for the people you want to attract.
The era of generic websites is over. Today, people crave authenticity something that connects them emotionally to brands. That’s why I see websites as living, breathing extensions of a business, almost like an employee who never takes a day off.
What does this look like in practice? Incorporating elements that reflect your personality and make visitors feel immersed in your world: playlists that capture your vibe, videos sharing your story, or interactive sections like Q&As that foster connection.
One of the most common mistakes I see is the lack of clarity in guiding visitors to take the next step. You could have a stunning design, but if you don’t direct your audience whether it’s booking a call or signing up for a newsletter, they’ll feel lost.
That’s why I always recommend making each page’s purpose clear and creating specific, engaging calls to action. Don’t just say, “Contact Me.” Instead, try, “Book your free call to see how we can work together.”
Another example:
Before starting any project, I always encourage my clients to explore other websites. This helps them visualize possibilities and understand what they like (and don’t like). Often, we don’t know what we want until we see it in action
Look for websites that inspire you, even if they’re outside your industry. It could be a juice shop with vibrant colors or a blog with a clean layout. Everything can become a source of ideas.
Beyond web design, one of the biggest lessons I’ve learned as an entrepreneur is to understand my strengths and leverage them. At first, I thought posting on Instagram was enough to attract clients. But then I realized my true strength was connecting with people, so I started prioritizing meetings, networking, and collaborations.
The same applies to you: identify what you do best and find ways to integrate it into your business strategy. Those strengths are what will make you stand out.
A website isn’t something you create once and forget about. It’s an extension of your business, and like any other part of your business, it needs to grow with you. Think of it as an employee: you train, update, and adapt them as needed.
If you add new services or shift your focus, make sure your website reflects those changes. Keeping your website fresh not only makes you look professional but also keeps your audience engaged and connected.
